UPDATE: A group from Horsham will be taking the 9:49 from Horsham to Farringdon. Meet at Horsham station at 9:30.
With the completion of London’s brand new fully-segregated cycleways criss-crossing the capital there’s now a chance to experience first-hand how properly designed facilities can release the enormous potential of cycling.
We’re organising a fact-finding tour to see for ourselves how the new cycleways work. We’ll also be looking at other simple measures – such as removing road traffic but allowing through-access for walking and cycling – that are beginning to make riding a bike so much safer and more convenient for Londoners.
Meet at 11:00-11:15 outside Farringdon station (on the paved area outside the main entrance on Cowcross Street).
We’ll be riding at a leisurely pace with plenty of time to take everything in. There’ll be a stop for lunch as well as an after-ride cake stop for those who wish to. We’ll aim to finish at about 3:30 near a London terminus (probably Victoria).
You’ll need to provide your own bicycle, although you can easily pick up a Santander hire cycle (aka “Boris bike”) using your credit card on the day. There are several docking points near the station: the nearest are at Hatton Garden, Holborn Circus and New Fetter Lane. For full details see: https://tfl.gov.uk/maps/cycle-hire
Please let me know on info@hdcf.org.uk if you’re intending on coming so I have an idea of numbers.
If you have any questions about the day please just ask me. Look forward to seeing you there!
